The Mavic 3E – Exciting and Disappointing

In July of 2023 AZ Drone made a new capital equipment purchase.  We finally added the Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) to our business.  We don’t run out and buy every drone after it’s been released to the public.  We weigh the pros and cons of new equipment, make our decisions based on how the new equipment will improve our business and bring more value to our clients.

If you have an interest in Mapping and Modeling, high levels of accuracy and fast modeling flights, this drone might fit in your business model as well.  If you’re looking for an “all in one” solution for mapping, modeling, video, and still image capture, this might not be the drone for you.

The Mavic 3 Enterprise performs well in the field when creating “area maps.”  If you’re looking to generate orthomosaics or 3D models for your clients, this drone will absolutely amaze you.

If you’re looking for amazing video quality, a host of still imaging options, and the ability to use one drone for all of your business needs, you’re going to be disappointed.

The M3E offers little in the way of options for video work.  1920×1080 30 FPS, or 4K 30 FPS.  That’s it.  You can only capture video to MP4.  No other options.  There’s no white balance control either, which can impact your models.  Bracketed photos aren’t possible either.

Before you run out and spend $4,000 on this drone I’d suggest watching our YouTube series on the M3E.  Here is the YouTube M3E Playlist
